Natasha Wilkins is the Educator Engagement Coordinator for the Education Civil Rights Alliance, convened by NCYL. In this role, Wilkins trains educators to speak out in the media and with policymakers on key education equity issues. Wilkins also draws on her experience as a high school history teacher to work to ensure children have access to culturally diverse curricula and materials in school and can learn the full and accurate history and current realities of racism and other discrimination in the nation. During her time in law school, Wilkins was a public interest law intern for the Chicago Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights and the Sargent Shriver Center on Poverty Law, and a legal intern for the United Nations International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals in Arusha, Tanzania.
Prior to joining NCYL, Natasha served as a Leadership in Educational Equity Fellow at the Illinois State Board of Education, where she later became a Senior Policy Specialist for Resource Allocation. Natasha holds a Bachelor's degree in Public Policy from the University of Illinois and a JD from Michigan State University.
