Maria Freese

Maria Freese is currently the Director of Government Relations & Counsel at the National Committee to Preserve Social Security & Medicare. Maria has held this position since January 2003. Prior to that, they were the Tax Counsel for the Senate Finance Committee from January 1997 to December 2003. From January 1992 to December 1996, they were the Legislative Director for Rep. L.F. Payne. From January 1982 to December 1987, they were a Legislative Assistant for Rep. Norm Dicks.

Maria Freese has dedicated their career to public policy and advocacy, especially when it comes to issues affecting seniors like Social Security and Medicare. Maria is an expert in tax policy and has negotiated numerous tax initiatives over the years. Maria is also a skilled lobbyist and has successfully lobbied Congress on a variety of issues affecting seniors. In addition to their work in government relations, Maria Freese is also an accomplished writer and speaker. Maria has authored numerous policy papers and speeches on Social Security, Medicare and pension issues.

Maria Freese completed their undergraduate studies at Eckerd College, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. Maria then attended Georgetown University Law Center, where they earned their Doctor of Law.
