Austin Reid has a diverse work experience in the education and legislative sectors. Austin most recently worked as the Senior Legislative Director, Federal Education Policy at the National Conference of State Legislatures. Prior to that, they held the role of Senior Policy Advisor at NIET: National Institute for Excellence in Teaching. Austin has also worked as a Legislative Fellow at the Office of U.S. Senator Chris Coons (D-DE) and as a Summer Fellow at the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions for Senator Patty Murray (D-WA). Austin has also taught as a Spanish Instructor at Harlem Village Academies and served as a Corps Member for Teach For America. Earlier in their career, they held the role of Treasurer at the University of Arkansas Associated Student Government.

Austin Reid earned a Bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Arkansas, which they attended from 2008 to 2012. Austin then pursued a Master's degree in Education Policy and Management at the Harvard Graduate School of Education from 2015 to 2016.
