Charlie O'Hara is a data scientist at the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) since November 2022. Previously, Charlie served as a lecturer in computational linguistics at the University of Michigan from February 2021 to August 2022, where courses were redesigned and new courses on Python coding and NLP technologies were developed. As a PhD student in linguistics at the University of Southern California from August 2013 to May 2021, Charlie contributed to 18 publications and 30+ presentations, including work on the GestNet Project in collaboration with Microsoft AI. Earlier experience includes roles as an IT help desk staff at Phoenix Media Corp, a webmaster at WOBC-FM, and a camp director at Barrington Park District. Educational achievements include a PhD and MA in linguistics from the University of Southern California and a BA in mathematics from Oberlin College.
National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN)
The purpose of NCSBN is to provide an organization through which boards of nursing act and counsel together on matters of common interest and concern affecting the public health, safety and welfare, including the development of licensing examinations in nursing. NCSBN's programs and services include developing the NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN examinations, performing policy analysis and promoting uniformity in relationship to the regulation of nursing practice, disseminating data related to the licensure of nurses, conducting research pertinent to NCSBN's purpose, and serving as a forum for information exchange for members.
