Bill Eliason

Adjunct Professor, Strategy at National Defense University

Bill Eliason, PhD, currently serves as the Commander of the National Capital Wing of the Civil Air Patrol, leading a volunteer organization of 715 members since March 2024. With a distinguished background in military education and leadership, Bill has been an Adjunct Professor of Strategy at the National Defense University since October 2010 and previously taught at Georgetown University. Bill holds the position of Director at NDU Press and Editor in Chief of Joint Force Quarterly, responsible for the publication of a key military and security studies journal. Bill's extensive military experience includes roles such as Chief of the Force Analysis Branch at US Joint Forces Command, Director of Plans for HQ 7th Air Force, and Commander of the 603d Air Control Squadron in Italy. Bill earned a Doctor of Philosophy in International Studies from Old Dominion University and has multiple advanced degrees in related fields from reputable institutions.
