Stephen Bowles

Visiting Research Fellow At The Institute For National Strategic Studies at National Defense University

Stephen Bowles is a seasoned behavioral science professional with extensive experience in leadership and mental health. Currently serving as a Visiting Research Fellow at the Institute for National Strategic Studies at the National Defense University since December 2016, Bowles focuses on couples' resilience, leadership, well-being, and mindfulness. Formerly, Bowles was an Associate Professor of Behavioral Science at the Eisenhower School, where graduate-level courses were taught to high-potential military personnel. Bowles has also held prominent roles at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences as Director of Military Psychology and Leadership, and at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, providing oversight for mental health operations across multiple bases. Academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Alliant International University, a Master of Science in National Resource Strategy from the National Defense University, a Master of Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Wittenberg University.
