Don Nielsen has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning multiple industries and organizations. Don served as Chairman of the American Center for Transforming Education since 2014 and Lumenal Lighting, LLC. since 2004, where they also held the role of Owner until August 2022. Don was an Advisory Board Member at the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington from 2004. Prior to that, they were a Member of the Rotary Club of Seattle since 1995. Don also played a significant role in the National Eating Disorders Association, serving as Director and Co-Founder, Former Director and Co-Founder, and Director and Founder. Don was a Trustee at Seattle Pacific University from 2005 to 2013 and held the position of Director at The Seattle Foundation from 2002 to 2012. Additionally, they served as Chairman of TeachFirst, Inc. from 2000 to 2008. Don's early career included leadership positions at Hazleton Corporation and Hazleton Laboratories Corporation, where they served as Chairman/President and President, respectively, from 1969 to 1992 and 1971 to 1992.

Don Nielsen began their education at the University of Washington, where they pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Management from 1956 to 1960. After completing their undergraduate studies, they went on to attend Harvard Business School from 1961 to 1963, earning an MBA with a focus on Finance and Marketing.
