Region 1 Advocate - New England at National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF)

Lisa Burton brings a wealth of experience in emergency management and fire safety, currently serving as Co-Director, Outreach Manager, and Emergency Coordinator at the University of Maine System since July 2017. In addition to this role, Lisa acts as a Region 1 Advocate for the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation and holds the position of Incident Management Assistance Team Member at the Hancock County Emergency Management Agency. Lisa has been a Captain, Safety Officer, and Emergency Medical Responder with the Castine Fire Rescue Department since June 2010, and also serves as Treasurer for the Castine Fire Rescue Volunteer Association. With an educational background that includes a Master's Degree in Safety, Security & Emergency Management from Eastern Kentucky University and various fire safety certifications, Lisa demonstrates a strong commitment to community safety and emergency preparedness. Lisa is the owner/operator of Mainely Solutions since 2001, and previously held multiple leadership roles at Maine Maritime Academy and Trinitarian Congregational Parish of Castine.

National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF)

The United States Congress created the NFFF to lead a nationwide effort to remember America's fallen firefighters. Since 1992, the non-profit foundation has developed and expanded programs to honor fallen fire heroes and assist their families and coworkers.The NFFF also works closely with the fire service and life safety organizations to help prevent and reduce line-of-duty deaths and injuries.
