Kathy Kelly has a diverse work experience. Kathy started working as the Vice President of Membership at the National Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs in 1994. In 1973, they became the President of Personnel Profiles, Inc., a company that specializes in sales training for the home-building industry. Kathy also served as a Graduate - Leadership Corps at The Climate Reality Project in 2017, where they focused on finding solutions to the climate crisis. Kathy worked as a Delegate at the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women from 2013 onwards, advocating for gender equality and women's empowerment. Additionally, Kathy served as a volunteer at Afghans4Tomorrow, Inc., working on various projects related to education, health, vocational training, human rights, and agriculture in Afghanistan. Kathy was also a member of the Steering Committee and Communications Officer at Women for Water Partnership, a global alliance of women organizations working in the areas of water, sanitation, sustainable development, and gender. Kathy held leadership positions in both the Business and Professional Women of Colorado and Boulder Business & Professional Women organizations.

Kathy Kelly received a Bachelor's degree in Religious Studies and Women's Studies from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2010. Prior to that, between 1960 and 1969, they attended St. Francis X. Cabrini.
