Dennis Wood

Dennis Wood has extensive work experience in the field of emergency services. Dennis currently serves as the Director of Operations at the National Fire Sprinkler Association since 2018. Prior to this, they held various roles at the Prince George's County Fire/EMS Department, including Deputy Fire Chief/Emergency Services Command, Assistant Fire Chief/Facilities and Resource Planning, and Assistant Chief/Emergency Medical Services. In these roles, they demonstrated strong leadership and management skills, overseeing emergency operations, budget administration, policy development, and performance management. Additionally, they implemented innovative methods to improve data integrity, optimize team performance, and enhance EMS capabilities in the county.

Dennis completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Emergency Health Services at the University of Maryland Baltimore County from 1992 to 1995. Dennis then furthered their education by obtaining a Master of Science (MS) in Emergency Health Services from the same university from 2005 to 2008.

In addition to their formal education, Dennis has also acquired several certifications to expand their expertise. These certifications include Fire Officer I (obtained in December 1994), Hazardous Materials Technician (obtained in December 1994), Firefighter III (obtained in November 1992), Fire Instructor III (obtained in April 1998), Fire Inspector III (obtained in December 2000), Fire Investigator (obtained in May 2004), Vehicle and Machinery Rescue (obtained in June 2006), Incident Safety Officer (obtained in June 2006), Health and Safety Officer (obtained in June 2006), and Fire Officer IV (obtained in February 2012). These certifications were acquired through the ProBoard Fire Service Professional Qualifications System.

Furthermore, Dennis has pursued additional certifications outside the field of emergency health services. Dennis completed courses such as Microsoft Teams Essential Training, Project Management Simplified, Leading and Working in Teams, Operational Excellence Foundations, Ken Blanchard on Servant Leadership, and Computer Science Principles: The Internet through LinkedIn. Dennis also obtained the certification in Managing Projects with Microsoft 365 from LinkedIn in May 2023.
