Chris Abanavas

Chris Abanavas serves as a Public Affairs Specialist at the National Gallery of Art since January 2023, acting as the museum's Spanish-language spokesperson and managing programming and staff publicity while advising on diplomatic relations and foreign policy. Previously, Chris held the position of Public Diplomacy and Digital Engagement Officer at the Embassy of Spain in Washington, D.C. from July 2018 to January 2023, and was a Fulbright Scholar, working as an English Teaching Assistant in Madrid from September 2017 to June 2018. Early in 2017, Chris contributed as a Digital Content Developer and Political Assistant at the Embassy of Spain. Chris holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Affairs from American University.
