Caitlin Haynes serves as the Director of Outreach and Engagement at the National Geographic Society, where leadership of a team of archivists and librarians focuses on engaging diverse audiences with the Society’s collections. Previously, Caitlin was the Program Manager for the Smithsonian Transcription Center, overseeing outreach and development for the institution's largest digital volunteering platform. Earlier experience includes roles as a Program Coordinator and Reference Archivist at the Smithsonian Institution, as well as a Research Associate for the Papers of Abraham Lincoln project. Caitlin's educational background includes dual Master's degrees in American History and Library & Information Science from the University of Maryland, along with a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology and History from Emory University.
