Ellen Stofan

Trustee at National Geographic Society

Dr. Ellen Stofan is a world-renowned scientist and space exploration expert who currently serves as a Trustee at the National Geographic Society. Ellen has previously served as the John and Adrienne Mars Director at the Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum, as well as the Chief Scientist at NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration. Dr. Stofan is also a highly sought-after speaker, having given talks on leadership, diversity and inclusion, space exploration, climate science, and the importance of STEAM education at The Lavin Agency. In addition, they have served as the co-chair of the World Economic Forum's Council on the Future of Space Technologies, where they explored how developments in space technologies will impact industry, governments and society in the future.

Ellen Stofan received their PhD in Geological Sciences from Brown University and their BS in Geology from William & Mary.
