Mark Salmon has extensive work experience in the media and publishing industry. Mark started their career at Dennis Publishing in 1983 as a Senior Advertisement Manager and then moved to Future plc as a Group Advertisement Manager in 1987. In 1990, they became the Owner of AXE Direct Limited before joining Forme Communications Limited in 1993 as a Commercial Director. Mark then worked at Highbury House Communications plc, 38 Titles as a Divisional Publishing Director from 2002 to 2006. Mark Salmon's next role was at Sport Magazine, where they served as an Agency Manager from 2006 to 2009. Currently, they hold the position of Head of Media and Brand Collaboration at National Geographic Traveller, which they started in 2009.

Mark Salmon attended Cotham Grammar School in Bristol from 1970 to 1976. Mark then pursued a degree in Business Studies at South Bristol Technical College from 1976 to 1978. After that, they completed a BA Hons degree in French, Law, and Accounts from City, University of London from 1978 to 1981.
