Shakayla Alston

Shakayla Alston possesses a diverse background in IT and management, currently serving as an IT Service Technician at National Gypsum Company since November 2022. Prior experience includes a role as In-Park Revenue Manager at Wet ‘n Wild Emerald Pointe, where Shakayla oversaw daily operations across admissions, retail, and food and beverage departments and managed POS and Admission Control systems. As Assistant Revenue Manager at the same company, Shakayla organized and managed employee and revenue data while supervising staff to ensure seamless operations. Additionally, Shakayla was a Teaching Assistant at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, supporting undergraduate students in an advanced Java coding course, and conducted research focusing on the experiences of women of color in computer science. Shakayla holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, completed in 2022, and attended Guilford Technical Community College prior to that.
