Simon Mair currently serves as the Chief Information Officer and Chief Data Officer at the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), starting in March 2024. Previously, Simon held multiple leadership roles at the Bureau of Meteorology, including General Manager for the Planning and Integration of the Public Services Transformation Program, where Simon significantly contributed to a $2 billion impact to the Australian community. Other positions at the Bureau included Head of Science and Technology Delivery and General Manager of Software Delivery and Operations. Earlier experience includes notable roles at the Australian Bureau of Statistics, overseeing technology services and statistical production across various branches, along with a brief tenure as a Software Developer at Nortel Networks. Simon holds a Bachelor of Computer Science from Swinburne University of Technology, a Diploma of Project Management from the Australian Institute of Management, and completed a Leadership Development Program at Melbourne Business School.
