Jane Terry is a highly experienced leader in transportation safety and public policy, currently serving as the Director of the Office of Impaired Driving and Occupant Protection at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) since May 2024. Prior to this role, Jane was the Vice President at the National Safety Council from June 2015 to May 2024, where Jane played a key role in shaping the organization's strategy, mission, and budget while leading government affairs. Earlier positions include Senior Director and Director of Government Affairs at the National Safety Council, and Director of Government and Industry Affairs at the National Transportation Safety Board. Jane also has a history of consulting and legislative work, including founding Georgia Capitol Connections and serving as a Senior Legislative and Policy Advisor. Jane holds a BA in Political Science and Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
