Whitney Tatem is an experienced engineer currently serving in the Office of Crashworthiness, Vehicle Structures and Restraints Division at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) since February 2020. Prior to this role, Whitney Tatem worked as a Research Engineer at Virginia Tech from June 2015 to December 2019, focusing on injury biomechanics, vehicle crash safety, crash injury epidemiology, crash modeling, crash avoidance methodologies, and the protection of vulnerable road users. Whitney Tatem holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biomedical Engineering and Mechanics from Virginia Tech and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biomedical Engineering from Bucknell University.
