Sam Hodkin has a strong background in security and stewarding, with a focus on the arena industry. They currently hold the role of Head of Security and Stewarding at the National Ice Centre & Motorpoint Arena Nottingham, where they have implemented an innovative in-house crowd management operation and overseen the development of a comprehensive Security Strategy. Prior to this, Sam worked at Showsec for over a decade, initially as an Academy Associate and later progressing to Operations Executive and Area Manager roles. In these positions, Sam successfully managed high-profile contracts, led teams of up to 200 workers, and demonstrated expertise in event management and project coordination. They have a proven track record of delivering outstanding services to prestigious clients and securing lucrative contracts in the highly competitive East Midlands Area.
Sam Hodkin CMgr FCMI MSyl has a diverse education history. Sam obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Events Management from Sheffield Hallam University, graduating in 2010. In 2012, they pursued further education and completed a Bachelor of Arts (BA) Honors degree in Crowd Safety Management from the University of Derby. Following this, Sam recently completed their Master of Science (MSc) degree in Management from De Montfort University in 2021.
Aside from their formal education, Sam has also acquired various certifications throughout their career. Sam became a Chartered Manager through the Chartered Management Institute in July 2022. In April 2022, they became a member of The Security Institute. Additionally, they obtained a personal license from the North East Derbyshire District Council (NEDDC) in March 2022. In 2021, Sam completed the Managing Safely certification from IOSH, and in 2020, they obtained the Event Counter Terrorism Risk Management certification from S.T.O.R.M 4 Events Ltd. Sam also holds the Supporting Work Based Learning certification from the University of Derby, which they acquired in October 2018. Furthermore, Sam has certifications in BIIAB Level 2 National Certificate for CCTV Operators from BIIAB, obtained in February 2010, as well as the Door Supervisor certification from the Security Industry Authority, obtained in April 2008.

The National Ice Centre offers a variety of fun skating sessions throughout the week including family skate, club sessions and foam parties. Children under the age of 5 can skate for free in a dedicated Tots Zone. The National Ice Centre complex is also home to the Motorpoint Arena, the East Midlands premier venue based in the heart of the vibrant city centre. With a 10,000 crowd capacity, the Arena showcases the biggest names in music, comedy and sport. The versatile venue has an intimate feel where all visitors are treated to fantastic stage views, allowing them to enjoy the ultimate entertainment experience.
