Patrick A. has a long and varied work history. Patrick began their career in 1997 as Manager of Public Affairs for the US Apple Association. Patrick then moved to the United Fresh Produce Association as Director of Government Affairs and Trade Policy. From 1999 to 2002, they worked for the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture as Director. Patrick then worked for the United States Department of Agriculture in two roles: Deputy Director of Intergovernmental Affairs and Confidential Assistant to the Under Secretary. In 2006, they moved to the American Chemistry Council as Senior Director. From 2012 to 2014, they were the Managing Partner of NorthStar Policy Navigation LLC. From 2011 to 2019, they were President of DA Farms. In 2014, they became Vice President of Advocacy and External Affairs and Executive Director of NWPCA PAC for the National Wooden Pallet and Container Association. Since 2019, they have served as President and CEO of the National Industrial Hemp Council and Board Chair.

Patrick A. obtained a B.A. in Public Administration/ Psychology from the University of Notre Dame between 1984 and 1989. Patrick then obtained an MBA from the University of Maryland Global Campus between 2010 and 2012. In 2018, they obtained the SGAC State Government Affairs Professional Certificate from the State Government Affairs Council. In 2019, they obtained the SGAC Advanced Professional Certificate (Bronze Level) from the State Government Affairs Council.
