Gemma Grimes has extensive work experience in human resources, spanning various industries and organizations. Gemma began their career as a Graduate Trainee on the IR/HR Training Programme with IBEC in 2004. Gemma later joined the Irish Rugby Football Union as a Human Resources Executive from 2005 to 2008. In 2010, they became a Human Resources Officer at The Alzheimer Society of Ireland. From 2011 to 2017, Gemma worked at Folens, first as a Human Resources Manager and then as an Organisation Development Manager. Gemma briefly served as an HR Manager at the Irish Film Institute in 2017 before moving on to becoming the Human Resources Manager at the NIBRT National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training. In March 2022, they were promoted to the role of Human Resources Director at NIBRT.

Gemma Grimes has a strong educational background in the field of business and human resources. Gemma obtained a Bachelor of Commerce (BComm) degree from the University of Galway, where they studied from 1998 to 2001. Following this, Gemma pursued further education and acquired a Master of Business Studies (MBS) degree in Industrial Relations and HRM from the University of Galway during the years 2003 to 2004.

In terms of additional certifications, Gemma earned the MCIPD certification from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development in August 2003.

To enhance their professional skills, Gemma also pursued several short-term courses and certificates. Gemma completed a Certificate in Professional Coaching Skills at the Limerick Institute of Technology from 2013 to 2014. Furthermore, they obtained a Diploma in Project Management from UCD Professional Academy in 2021.

Most recently, in 2022, Gemma enrolled at the Technological University Dublin, completing a Certificate in Managing Diversity & Inclusion.
