Rodney J. Petersen is an accomplished leader in cybersecurity education and policy, currently serving as the Director of the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE) at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) since February 2015. Previously, Petersen held the position of President and CEO of Education Policy and Leadership, LLC, and served in various roles at EDUCAUSE for over a decade, including Senior Policy Advisor and Managing Director of the Washington Office, advocating for higher education's interests in cybersecurity and privacy. With a diverse background that includes significant roles at the University of Maryland and AmeriCorps, Petersen has a strong foundation in policy development, compliance, and strategic planning. Educational credentials include a Juris Doctorate from Wake Forest University School of Law, a Certificate in Higher Education Policy and Leadership from the University of Maryland, and a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Political Science from Alma College.
