Zhi Liang

Zhi Liang is a Senior Material Scientist at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) since March 2025, focusing on high-precision material property databases and CALPHAD database development. Prior to this role, Zhi served as a Senior Materials Engineer and Materials Design Engineer at QuesTek Innovations LLC from May 2021 to March 2025, specializing in alloy system design using the ICME-CALPHAD approach. Zhi also worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at NIST from September 2018 to May 2021, conducting research in ICME/CALPHAD-based additive manufacturing and developing thermodynamic/kinetic databases for titanium alloys. An academic background includes a PhD in Materials Science & Engineering from The Ohio State University, where Zhi was a lead researcher on a Department of Energy project, and undergraduate degrees from the University of Kentucky and China University of Mining and Technology.
