Mike Payne

Mike Payne is Vice President Operations at State Farm in Tempe, Ariz. He joined the NICB Board of Governors in 2022.

In 1998, Mr. Payne was named Section Manager in the Great Western Zone and oversaw the zone auto/fire SIU operations for Arizona, Nevada, and New Mexico. Over the next several years he was promoted to positions of increasing responsibility at Headquarters and the Northeast zones of operation. In June 2014, he was named to Vice President Operations – Enterprise Process Ownership. In 2017, he moved to Phoenix as Vice President Operations – Property – Complex. Recently, he was reassigned to PIP, MPC, and SIU. He began his State Farm career in 1989 as an auto claim representative in the Great Lakes Zone.

A graduate of Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Mr. Payne earned the Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation in 2002 and the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation in 2013.
