Jaime Kocanda

Jaime Kocanda, RHIA, CHPS, MS, has over 24 years of work experience in the health information management (HIM) field. Jaime is currently serving as the Director of Health Information Management at National Jewish Health, where they evaluate HIM department operations and ensures alignment with business objectives. Jaime maintains operational workflows, monitors and streamlines processes, and maximizes potential production.

Previously, Jaime was the HIM Director and Facility Privacy Official at HealthONE for 10 years. During their tenure, they successfully implemented an electronic medical record system, collaborated with the Ethics and Compliance Officer to achieve the highest possible rating in a compliance review survey, and significantly reduced facility delinquency rates by streamlining processes and establishing workflow consistency.

Before joining HealthONE, Jaime worked as the HIM Operations Manager for Valley Health System at UHS. Their responsibilities included planning, implementing, and overseeing department activities, coordinating incomplete chart notifications and physician suspension processes, and establishing priorities to avoid backlogs.

Earlier in their career, Jaime was an HIM Data Analyst at Sunrise Medical Center, where they provided daily support to the HIM management team, computed and analyzed data for decision-making purposes, and researched topics for department newsletters and policy updates.

Jaime's career in HIM began at North Vista Medical Center, where they worked for seven years.

Jaime Kocanda, RHIA, CHPS, MS has a diverse education background. Jaime obtained a Master's degree in Health/Health Care Administration/Management from the University of Denver in 2020. Prior to that, they earned an Associate's degree in RHIT from the College of Southern Nevada (2003-2006) and a Bachelor's degree in Health/Health Care Administration/Management from the University of Las Vegas (1998-2003). Additionally, they hold a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas in Health/Health Care Administration/Management (1998-2003).

In terms of certifications, Jaime is a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), obtained from AHIMA in 2021. Jaime is also a Certified Healthcare Privacy & Security (CHPS) professional, certified by AHIMA in 2015. Moreover, they are a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), certified by AHIMA in 2007.
