Joshua Franzel, PhD, is a seasoned leader in research and data analysis, currently serving as Senior Executive and Director at the National League of Cities since May 2023. With a robust career that includes positions such as Managing Director of the MissionSquare Research Institute and President/CEO of the Center for State and Local Government Excellence, Franzel has consistently driven research initiatives aimed at enhancing local government operations and policy. Previous roles include Director of Policy Research at the International City/County Management Association and fellowships at The White House Office of Management and Budget and the US Department of Commerce.
