National High Magnetic Field Laboratory
Scott Hannahs is a physicist with extensive experience in high magnetic fields and instrumentation. Scott currently serves as the Director of Scientific Instrumentation and Facilities at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory and works as a Consultant at EarthSTEPS, LLC. Prior to their current roles, Scott held positions at various research institutions and universities, specializing in condensed matter physics and user support. Hannahs holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Physics from UCLA and has a background in teaching undergraduate physics classes. A Postdoctoral Researcher, Scott has conducted research on scanning tunneling microscopes and the properties of organic superconductors.

The only facility of its kind in the US, the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory is the largest and highest-powered magnet laboratory in the world. Headquartered in a sprawling 370,000-square-foot complex at Florida State University in Tallahassee, the lab also includes sites at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico and the University of Florida in Gainesville. Together these three institutions operate the lab, collaborating in a unique, interdisciplinary way to advance basic science, engineering and technology in the 21st century.
