Rob Shenk is the current Chief Museum Content Officer at the National Medal of Honor Museum. Rob previously held the position of Senior Vice President, Visitor Engagement at George Washington's Mount Vernon from April 2013 to August 2019. In their role at Mount Vernon, Rob was tasked with integrating the Marketing, New Media, Guest Experience, Events, and Guest Services departments into one team focused on customer acquisition and revenue, guest experience, digital growth and outreach. Rob also managed Mount Vernon's Education Center museum and oversaw numerous improvements to that popular offering.
Under Rob's leadership, Mount Vernon's Be Washington interactive leadership experience won a Thea Award for top museum experience in 2019. An improved focus on the guest experience and tour offerings led to significantly higher satisfaction scores, and Mount Vernon earned a Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor for the past five years. Rob was also the executive producer and project lead for Mount Vernon's new Revolutionary War 4D Theater experience, which was awarded a Gold Telly for top educational video. In addition, they directed Mount Vernon’s 2018 Save the View campaign which successfully deterred the building of a natural gas compressor station in Mount Vernon’s viewshed. Lastly, they established Mount Vernon as a digital leader within our segment - online visitation increased by eight times and digital revenue reached all-time highs.
Rob Shenk attended the University of California, Berkeley, where they earned a B.A. in Political Economy of Industrial Societies. Rob then attended Georgetown University, where they earned an M.A. in National Security Studies. Rob also holds certifications from Google in Advanced Google Analytics and Google Analytics Individual Qualification.
Their manager is Chris Cassidy, President and CEO. Rob Shenk works with Darrell Utt - Chief of Business Operations, Alexandra Rhue - VP of Finance & Administration, and Cory Crowley - Executive Vice President of External Affairs.
