Mark Mitchell is an experienced leader in environmental health and justice with a robust background in policy development and physician education. Currently serving as the Chair of the Council on Environmental Health and Climate Change for the National Medical Association and Co-Chair of the Connecticut Equity and Environmental Justice Advisory Council, Mitchell focuses on integrating health equity into environmental policies. As the Principal of Mitchell Environmental Health Associates since 1995, contributions include consulting and education aimed at engaging African American physicians in environmental health advocacy. Mitchell's extensive experience also includes roles as a Senior Policy Advisor for the Connecticut Coalition for Environmental Justice, a member of the Hartford Advisory Commission on the Environment, and a former Director of Health for the City of Hartford. With an academic foundation that includes an M.P.H. from Johns Hopkins University and an M.D. from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, Mitchell has also contributed to academia as an Associate Professor in Climate Change, Energy, and Environmental Health Equity at George Mason University.
