Craig Katzman has a diverse work experience in the mortgage insurance and analytics industries. Craig began their career in 1986 as an Underwriter at Great American Bank and gained experience in various roles at different companies including Northeast Federal, Headlands Mortgage Company, Colonial Bancorp, and Imperial Credit Industries. In 1993, they became an Underwriting Supervisor at Colonial Bancorp and then moved on to roles as a Sr. Underwriter at Imperial Credit Industries, Mission Hills Mortgage, and Market Street Mortgage.
In 1998, Katzman joined PMI Mortgage Insurance Co. as a Contract Underwriter before moving up to positions like Sr. Account Underwriter and Underwriting Information Analyst. Craig eventually became the Manager of Business Insight and Analytics, where they managed a team supporting key areas of the business. Craig developed a reputation as the go-to person in the company.
In 2010, Katzman joined NMI Holdings, Inc. as the Manager of Business Analytics & Risk Share Operations. Craig managed a team supporting different departments and led notable projects such as developing a synthetic peer performance benchmark model and designing an application processing time study. In 2012, they became the Senior Director of Corporate Analytics, focusing on building and mentoring an analytics team and providing decision support across the organization.
In 2012, they also worked at Epicor Software Corp as a Sr. Staff Product Manager, where they were responsible for data warehousing and analytics. Their role included analyzing workflow processes, improving change management, and guiding enhancements for operational efficiency.
Overall, Katzman has a strong background in analytics, risk management, and underwriting, with a particular focus on building high-capability analytics teams and providing strategic decision support.
Craig Katzman received their Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Administration from San Diego State University in 2005. In 2010 to 2011, they attended California State University-Sacramento, where they obtained a certification as a CA DOJ Certified Crime and Intelligence Analyst in the field of Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement Administration. In addition, they have obtained additional certifications in Project Management Basics from the American Management Association in December 2003, and in Standard SEQUEL Training from Advanced Systems Concepts, Inc. in March 2000.
