Jose M. Garcia-Rivera

Jose M. Garcia-Rivera currently serves as Vice Chair of the NOAA Science Council and has extensive experience in atmospheric sciences and meteorology. In the NOAA/NESDIS Portfolio Management Branch, responsibilities include leading product portfolio management and ensuring the alignment of environmental products with agency missions. Previous roles at I.M. Systems Group Inc. involved contributions to the design and development of aviation weather systems, project management, and collaboration with NOAA on various modeling projects. Academic credentials include a PhD and Master’s degree in Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, along with a Bachelor's degree in Physics from the University of Puerto Rico.
