Melissa Zweng

Melissa Zweng currently serves as the Chief of the Product Implementation Branch within the Office of Common Services at NOAA, where leadership and guidance are provided to a team of physical scientists and IT specialists. Expertise spans product management, scientific software development, and operational deployment since joining NOAA in October 2011. Prior to this role, Zweng coordinated Data Management and Cyberinfrastructure activities for the Integrated Ocean Observing System, ensuring program alignment with observing programs and partners. As an oceanographer at the National Centers for Environmental Information, responsibility included maintaining the integrity of the World Ocean Database and training staff. Zweng also gained experience at SP Systems, Inc. as an oceanographer for the National Oceanographic Data Center, focusing on data transformation and quality control. Educational background includes a Bachelor of Engineering in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the University of Michigan and a Master of Science in Physical Ocean Science and Engineering from the University of Delaware.
