Monica Allen serves as the Director of Public Affairs for NOAA Research, managing a team of communicators to provide environmental information related to climate, weather, and oceanic research. With a career at NOAA since April 2007, Monica has previously held positions such as Congressional Affairs Specialist and Deputy Director of NOAA Fisheries Public Affairs. Prior to NOAA, Monica was the Opinion Page Editor and Reporter at The Standard-Times and held various editorial roles at Bangor Daily News and East Bay Newspapers. Education includes a BA in History from Brown University and a Master’s Degree in Marine Affairs from the University of Rhode Island.
