Sierra Sarkis is an accomplished communications lead and environmental scientist at the NOAA National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration, with extensive experience in program coordination, communication, and stakeholder engagement since July 2019. In this role, Sierra is responsible for the development and execution of NCCOS's annual operating plan, performance tracking, and congressional engagement. Additionally, Sierra has a strong background in marketing and public relations through previous positions at the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science and Debris Free Oceans, where responsibilities included managing social media campaigns and raising awareness about environmental issues. Educational qualifications include a Master of Professional Science in Marine Conservation from the University of Miami and a Bachelor's degree in Marine Sciences from Boston University.
