Alice Horton is a leading expert in ecotoxicology and plastic pollution, currently serving as Principal Investigator for Anthropogenic Contaminants at the National Oceanography Centre since August 2019. Horton's research examines the fate and ecological impacts of microplastics in aquatic environments, building on extensive experience from previous roles at the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology, where research focused on microplastics in freshwater and terrestrial ecosystems. Horton's academic credentials include a PhD in Ecotoxicology from Leiden University, an MSc in Marine Biology and Biological Oceanography from the University of Southampton, and a BSc in Biology from the University of Sussex.
