Helen Snaith

Head Of Data Research And Services at National Oceanography Centre

Helen Snaith has over 30 years of experience in data research and management. Helen has been with the National Oceanography Centre since 1991, where they started as a research scientist before becoming the Head of Scientific Data Management from 2006 to 2010. In 2010, they joined NERC as a Senior Scientific Data Manager at the British Oceanographic Data Centre (BODC). During their time at NERC, they were responsible for managing NERC-funded science data and developing new products and data services. Helen returned to the National Oceanography Centre in 2019 as the Head of Data Research and Services.

Helen Snaith completed their education in a chronological order starting from their Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from Durham University, which took place between 1984 and 1987. Helen then pursued a Master of Science degree in Oceanography at the University of Southampton from 1987 to 1988. Afterward, they continued their studies at the same university and obtained a PhD in Physical Oceanography and Remote Sensing, which was completed from 1988 to 1991.
