Ian Troth

Visiting Researcher at National Oceanography Centre

Ian Troth is an accomplished geologist with extensive experience in the energy sector. Currently serving as the Head of Pre-salt Excellence and Discipline Lead for Geology & Petrophysics at Equinor since January 2018, Ian is also a Visiting Researcher at the National Oceanography Centre, focusing on Palaeozoic stratigraphy of Gondwana. Previously, Ian held positions as Principal Geologist at QGC from 2013 to 2016 and progressed through roles as Senior Geologist and Exploration Geologist at BG Group from 2006 to 2013. Ian earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Geology/Earth Science from the University of Southampton, completing the degree in 2006, following a Master's degree in the same field from the same institution in 2002.
