Jennifer Balson Alvarez is a seasoned professional in historic preservation with extensive experience across various roles. Currently serving as a Historian for the National Park Service since July 2021, Jennifer previously held positions such as Planning Board Member for the City of Summit and Buildings and Grounds Team Leader at Central Presbyterian Church in Summit, NJ. With a background as a Historic Preservation Specialist for the NJ Department of Environmental Protection, Jennifer contributed to significant transit project restorations and reviewed historic tax credit projects. Additional experience includes work as a Historic Preservation Planner and a Preservation Planner at Building Conservation Associates, where notable contributions include managing projects like the General Motors Technical Center. Jennifer holds a Master's degree in Historic Preservation Planning and a Commercial Real Estate Certificate from Cornell University.
