Upendra Desai

Upendra Desai is an accomplished IT audit and information security professional with extensive experience leading initiatives in various organizations. Currently heading IT audit and risk management at the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) since August 2021, Upendra collaborates with stakeholders to assess IT-related business risks and coordinates regulatory and technology audits. Previously, as Deputy CISO and Associate Vice President of Information Security at ICICI Lombard, responsibilities included establishing managed SOC services and enhancing information security posture. Upendra also served as Vertical Head of IT Infrastructure and Information Security at L&T Infotech, overseeing a team and ensuring compliance with security standards. Early career experiences include significant roles at Kotak Mahindra Old Mutual Life Insurance, Cognizant Technology Solutions, and L&T Infotech, contributing to infrastructure setup and security compliance. Upendra holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics from the University of Mumbai.
