James Motyka

James Motyka, PharmD, is a Research Associate for the National Pharmaceutical Council (NPC). Before joining NPC, Dr. Motyka served as a research associate at Alkemi, a health economics outcomes research/market access consulting firm. In this position, he collaborated with colleagues to execute value assessments, value communications, and evidence planning for life science industry clients.

Dr. Motyka is passionate about improving population health outcomes, increasing patient access to innovative therapies, and decreasing patient out-of-pocket costs. During his career, Dr. Motyka conducted research in areas such as gene therapy reimbursement, biosimilars, and social determinants of health. His prior professional experiences span pharmaceutical R&D, health system pharmacy, healthcare consulting, outpatient specialty pharmacy, and home clinical trial support.

Dr. Motyka earned his Doctor of Pharmacy from University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) and Bachelor of Science degrees in Molecular Neuroscience and Biology from Loyola University of Chicago. He enjoys exercising, reading, and helping others achieve their health and wellness goals.
