Michael Formica has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Michael is currently working at the National Pork Producers Council, where they hold the role of Chief Legal Strategist and General Counsel. Prior to this, they served as Assistant Vice President & Counsel, Domestic Policy and Chief Environmental Counsel at the same organization. Before joining the National Pork Producers Council, Michael worked as the Director of Environment, Energy & Regulatory Affairs at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Michael also gained experience as an Associate Attorney at Baise & Miller and as a Tour Guide / Sales Rep at Catamount Brewing Company. Michael further expanded their legal knowledge by working as an ENRD Summer Law Clerk at the U.S. Department of Justice and as a Law Clerk at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont. Michael began their career as an Environmental Affairs Staff Assistant at the American Bakers Association and completed an internship at Friends of the Earth, UK in their Sustainable Development Research Unit.
Michael Formica has a diverse education history. Michael began with their high school education at Morristown Beard School from 1984 to 1988. Afterward, they attended Mountain Lakes High School from 1988 to 1990. Michael then pursued architecture at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville from 1990 to 1992 but did not complete a degree. Following this, they attended the University of Rhode Island from 1992 to 1994 and obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Political Science. In 1994, they pursued a study abroad program and international internship focused on Environmental Law at Richmond, The American International University in London. From 1995 to 1998, they attended Vermont Law and Graduate School, where they earned a Juris Doctor (JD) degree with a specialization in Law, specifically Environmental Law. In 2004, they enrolled in the Executive Leadership Program at Georgetown University McDonough School of Business for a year.
