James Thomasell has extensive experience in financial management and leadership roles. James served as the Chief Financial Officer at National PTA, where they restructured and improved financial systems, policies, and procedures. Prior to that, they were the Executive Director at the Association of Clinical Research Professionals, where they achieved financial success by increasing net assets and led a merger with a similar non-profit organization. James also obtained accreditation for certification programs and developed new business relationships. James was also the Vice President & Chief Accounting Officer at Volunteers of America, where they implemented a new accounting system. James began their career at Deloitte as a Manager/Sr. Manager, managing audits for various organizations and serving as a subject matter expert for the IRS. Overall, James has a strong background in financial management, strategic planning, and organizational leadership.
James Thomasell earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Accounting from the University of Maryland, which they attended from 1980 to 1984. Additionally, they obtained various certifications, including the CPA (Certified Public Accountant) from the State of Maryland in August 1986. James also holds several cybersecurity and not-for-profit certificates, obtained from institutions like AICPA and Association of International Certified Professional Accountants. Recently, in 2023, they acquired certifications in database foundations, Excel data visualization, learning data analytics, and SharePoint online essential training from LinkedIn.
