Hristo Ivanov

Hristo (Chris) Ivanov is an accomplished research engineer at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, specializing in the validation and characterization of full-scale wind turbines and associated technologies since February 2019. Prior experience includes serving as an R&D Engineering Graduate Student at Allseas, where Hristo conducted a MSc thesis project focused on the reduction in capacity of steel wire rope slings, developing an analytical model with MATLAB. Hristo also gained valuable research experience as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at The University of Akron, contributing to the prototype development of a non-destructive testing sensor, and led the Steel Bridge Design Team in constructing a model bridge utilizing CAD and FEA software. Additional roles include an engineering co-op position at Jones-Stuckey, where Hristo analyzed inspection data for bridge load rating reports. Hristo holds a Master of Science degree in Offshore and Dredging Engineering from Delft University of Technology and a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from The University of Akron, graduating summa cum laude.
