Roman Tokarev has a significant work experience starting in 2003 as an Associate at International Bank For Economic Development. Roman then worked as a Senior Associate at Moscow Exchange from 2004 to 2006. From 2007 to 2015, Roman progressed from a Senior Associate to becoming the Head of Investor Relations, Corporate Finance, and Financial Control at Alfa-Bank, where they managed a department of 20 people at the Moscow HQ and oversaw 54 people in 34 regions. Since 2016, they have been working as the Head of Corporate Actions at National Settlement Depository, where they manage a team of 21 people.

Roman Tokarev obtained a Bachelor's degree in Economics, with a focus on Banking, from State University — Higher School of Economics, between 2001 and 2005. In 2006, they pursued a Master's degree in Business Administration and Economics from Lund University, completing it in 2007. More recently, starting in 2018 and finishing in 2021, Roman attended the University of Warwick - Warwick Business School, where they obtained an Executive MBA with Distinction, specializing in Finance.
