Tom Burke

Managing Director, Application Development at National Student Clearinghouse

Tom Burke has a extensive work experience in the field of application development and management. Tom started their career as a Radar Operator in the USAF, where they learned important skills such as leadership and self-discipline. After leaving the military, they worked as a Systems Engineer at Presearch, programming in Fortran and Occam, and also installing and configuring security systems. Tom then joined CACI as a Systems Programmer before moving on to The Washington Post as the Director of Application Development. At The Washington Post, they managed a team of 30 and successfully completed several projects using agile methodology. Following their time at The Washington Post, they joined Marriott International as the Senior Director of Digital Application Development, where they led a team of 90 and implemented a modern micro-services platform. Currently, Tom Burke is the Managing Director of Application Development at the National Student Clearinghouse.

Tom Burke earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical Engineering from George Mason University, where they studied from 1989 to 1992. Tom then pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Systems Engineering at Virginia Tech from 1994 to 1999.
