Claire Masterson is a Research Fellow at the University of Galway, actively involved in the European Defence Fund's COUNTERACT project since February 2022. Concurrently, Claire serves as a Lecturer at the CURAM Centre for Research in Medical Devices and holds a position as a Senior Postdoctoral Researcher at NUI Galway. Previous experience includes a Postdoctoral Fellow role at Athlone Institute of Technology, focusing on enhancing mesenchymal stem cells' antimicrobial efficacy, and research positions at The Hospital for Sick Children and St. Michael's Hospital, where Claire investigated sepsis-induced lung injury and stem cell interactions. Claire began a career in research as a Research Scientist at Orbsen Therapeutics Limited and held a research assistant position at REMEDI. Claire earned a PhD in Lung Biology from the University of Galway, where earlier degrees in Regenerative Medicine (M.Sc.) and Microbiology (B.Sc.) were also obtained.
