Kim Jun Sung

Chief Investment Officer at National University of Singapore

Mr Kim Jun Sung has more than three decades of experience driving investment strategy, engaging stakeholders, and building teams across Singapore, London and New York.

Prior to joining NUS, Jun Sung was Managing Director and Head of Total Return Strategies at GIC, where he oversaw the concentration of investment strategies, initiated a successful co-investment programme with partner engagement managers, and managed the rapid restructuring and growth of large investment teams across borders. He was also the taskforce head of a firm-wide new vision team, co-head of the GIC Technology Business Group, member of the GIC Sustainability Committee, and a founding team member of the high performing Emerging Asia active equity team in 2002, among many other appointments.

Jun Sung’s former professional experience also includes stints at Warburg Pincus Counsellors New York and Samsung Asset Management Seoul, where he was Chief Investment Officer. A seasoned leader, Jun Sung has amassed rich experience managing large investment teams and successfully engaging key stakeholders. He is also a main Board member of Samsung Electronics, Korea.

Jun Sung graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a degree in economics and industrial management; he is also an alumnus of the Stanford Executive Programme at Stanford University, and the High Performance Board Programme at the International Institute for Management Development (IMD), Switzerland.
