Radar Techniques Development Meteorologist at National Weather Service

Paul J. McCrone, CCM, currently serves as a Radar Techniques Development Meteorologist at the National Weather Service since October 2021, focusing on expert analyses of complex weather patterns. Previously, from October 2007 to October 2021, McCrone worked as a Meteorologist at the Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center, applying knowledge of weather and computer languages to operational plans. McCrone has an extensive background in meteorology, having served as a meteorologist in the United States Air Force from July 1997 to October 2007, and as a Naval Officer from September 1988 to July 1997. Academic qualifications include a Master’s in Atmospheric Science from Creighton University and ongoing studies in Meteorology at the Naval Postgraduate School. McCrone has also taught as a part-time lecturer at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.
