Clarisse (Lisa) Marotz

Lisa Marotz has a diverse range of work experience in the scientific field. Clarisse (Lisa) started their career as a Student Coordinator at the Marine Biological Laboratory in 2008. From there, they worked as a Student Assistant and completed their Bachelor's Thesis at the University of Washington, where they focused on the localization of proteins involved in the pro-addictive effects of stress in mice. Lisa then joined Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin as a Research Assistant, working on their Master's Thesis. During this time, they performed novel sequencing and analysis of the naked-mole rat opioid receptor and managed supply inventory. Following this, Lisa became a Teaching Assistant with the NYC Teaching Fellows program before transitioning to a Research Specialist role at Weill Cornell Medical College. Clarisse (Lisa) then pursued their PhD at the University of California, San Diego, where they worked as a Graduate Student researching the microbiome. Lisa continued their research as a Postdoctoral Researcher at UC San Diego Health. In 2021, they joined Native Microbials, Inc. as a Microbiome Scientist, furthering their expertise in this field.

Clarisse (Lisa) Marotz began their education journey in 2005 at the University of Washington, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Neurobiology in 2009. Continuing their academic pursuits, they attended Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin from 2009 to 2011, completing a Master of Science degree in Medical Neuroscience. Demonstrating a strong commitment to research, Clarisse then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree at UC San Diego from 2015 to 2020, specializing in the field of Human Microbiome.
