Yina Wu's work experience began in January 2014 with a role as a Research Assistant at the University of Central Florida. During this time, they conducted research on various topics such as reduced visibility, traffic safety, connected and automated vehicles, and simulation. Yina also worked on multiple research projects funded by organizations such as SAFER-SIM, the Florida Department of Transportation, and the UTC National Center for Transportation System Productivity and Management. In December 2017, they became a Postdoctoral Scholar at the same university, where they led the development of the Automated Roadway Conflicts Identification System (ARCIS) using UAV data and served as principal investigator or co-investigator for several research projects related to connected and automated vehicles and intelligent transportation systems. In February 2020, they transitioned into the role of Associate Professor (Research Track) until December 2021. In November 2022, Yina Wu joined Reach Financial as a Data Scientist and worked there until March 2023. Currently, they are employed as a Data Scientist at National Interstate Insurance Company, starting in April 2023.
Yina Wu's education history includes a Bachelor's Degree in Traffic and Transportation from Beijing Jiaotong University, obtained from 2008 to 2012. Yina then pursued a Master's Degree in Transportation at the University of Central Florida from 2014 to 2015. Subsequently, they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Civil Engineering at the same institution from 2015 to 2017.
In addition to their academic degrees, Yina Wu has obtained various certifications over the years. In 2012, they received the SAP Associate Consultant Certificate from SAP. In 2018, they completed the Philosophy and the Sciences: Introduction to the Philosophy of Cognitive Sciences course from Coursera. Yina Wu expanded their knowledge further with the Introduction to Neuroeconomics: How the Brain Makes Decisions course in 2017 and The Brain and Space course in 2016, both from Coursera. Lastly, they achieved a Computer Vision Nanodegree from Udacity in 2019 and an Amazon Web Services Cloud Practitioner certification from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in 2023.
